Ever since Christine Wu was given a violin at the age of two, she has been speaking the language of music. Born in Germany to a Taiwanese father and a German-American mother, Christine moved to the United States as a child, bringing with her a rich cultural heritage and a prodigious musical gift.
Trained in the Suzuki method from the start, she pursued her passion with remarkable focus, recruited by Pittsburgh’s Duquesne University on a full scholarship before receiving a full scholarship to study under renowned pedagogue Robert Lipsett at the University of Southern California. There, she completed her Master of Music and launched into a whirlwind of classical performance, including a year with the St. Louis Symphony and a tenured position with the Houston Symphony—one of the youngest ever to achieve it.
Christine’s years on the orchestral stage took her to Carnegie Hall, across Europe’s greatest concert halls and even the Caribbean, but her creative compass eventually pointed west. In 2006, she moved to Los Angeles, where she expanded her artistry into recording, film, television, and commercial work, composing and performing across genres and platforms.
Whether soloing with the Game of Thrones Live Concert Experience or recording for artists like David Foster, A.R. Rahman, and Paul Anka, Christine blends precision with passion, tradition with innovation. Since 2006, Christine has performed at her bucket list of venues including the World Cup Stadiums of South Africa, The O2, Wembley and Royal Festival Hall in London, Movistar Arena in Santiago, Madison Square Garden and many other iconic venues around the world.
She has appeared on The Voice, American Idol, Dancing with the Stars, The Tonight Show, The Kelly Clarkson Show, The Oscars, The Game Awards, and the Grammy Awards, always pushing the boundaries of what a violinist—and cellist—can do. She has recorded for and appeared on camera on television on both commercials. Incredibly, she caught the public eye for performing a backbend while playing electric violin in Billy Ray Cyrus’s “Achy Breaky 2,” a viral moment that mirrored her signature blend of virtuosity and daring.
She has performed alongside a diverse roster of artists including P!nk, Billie Eilish, Andrea Bocelli, Snoop Dogg, Bear McCreary, the Black Eyed Peas, Queen, Kenny Loggins, Keith Urban, Jennifer Lopez, Barbra Streisand, Natasha Bedingfield, Sixto Rodriguez, and Justin Timberlake, to name a few.
Christine has also collaborated as a writer with pop musicians, film and video game composers and written many string arrangements for other artists’ songs.
She plays a 1777 Lorenzo Storioni violin made in Cremona, endorses Yamaha’s electric string instruments, and composes on her Bösendorfer piano—each a tool in the hands of an artist who has never stopped evolving.
Equally at home in the studio or on stage, Christine composes for films, game soundtracks, and commercial jingles, lending her voice to projects that range from cinematic scores to rap albums.
